In 2018, one of Camilia's peers and mentors nominated Camilia for the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Minority Business Person of the Year. Humbled by this nomination, Camilia went about seeking votes from her customers, peers, and social media family -- let’s call them our tribe. Nailah's Shea entered the FedEx Small Business Grant competition, another platform that required my tribe’s (customers and peers) support. Despite hearing about and entering the 4-month long competition during its last two weeks, we were able to create a video and profile about Nailah’s Shea and attract enough votes and attention from FedEx to be invited among the top 100 small businesses nationally. Peers also nominated Nailah's Shea for the 2019 Ernst & Young Small Business of the Year award for the Southeast Region where we were selected among finalists for the region.

With Nailah's Shea selection by the City of Greensboro to participate in eBay's Greensboro NC 12-month Retail Revival program, Camilia spoke about the challenges and opportunities small businesses face.

Camilia Majette, CEO and founder of Nailah’s Shea, created her all natural beauty and body care line to help heal and soothe her kids' eczema. She said her journey through entrepreneurship is her way of giving back to the community.

“What we’re using on our bodies really effects our skin internally because our skin is the largest organ on our body,” said Majette. “So that’s why I chose to use only organic ingredients."
